Vacation Bible School Message - Final Day

So … all week we have been talking about how Jesus and his gospel is the greatest treasure … We talked about the very fact that even seeing and discovering this great treasure is a great treasure in and of itself. Why? Because not everyone sees treasure of who God is. So if you do see … Jesus says you are very blessed! We talked about how creation shows us there is a God … but only the Bible can tell us who that God is … so the Bible is a super special treasure … we need to dig into it and read it … and sometimes when we are lucky we will even find things like worms and stuff … no just kidding but it really is like storing up for yourself treasures in heaven when you read and understand and memorize it.

We talked about how the whole Bible is telling the story of Jesus … ever since the first sin came into the world … right after Adam and Eve disobeyed God … God made a special promise that he was going to send someone to crush the head of Satan … who tricked them We talked about why Jesus and his gospel being the greatest treasure in the world? That it is because the treasure of who Jesus is and what he did on the cross to save us is worth more than anything else in the whole wide world because what it gives us is worth more than everything in the world. It gives us eternal life with him. Remember that really important serious question I asked you yesterday? What good would it do if you had anything and everything you ever wanted and one day you went to hell? It wouldn’t do any good at all, would it? No it wouldn’t. You see how valuable the gospel is. It gives you eternal life …. eternal forever never ending joyous eternal life with God in his kingdom.

The greatest problem that the world has and everyone in the world has, is sin, and the only solution for that is Jesus … the reason there are earthquakes in this world, the reason why there are sicknesses, and diseases and people hurting each other is because of sin … sin came into this world and broke this world … Sin has infected and effected everything Oh yes … the world is still beautiful …. but not as beautiful as it could be. Just imagine this world once … with no more sin …. won’t that be awesome! And the only solution God has for the sin problem the world has is Jesus … if a person rejects Jesus, they have no solution … no hope … but let me tell you something about the word hope When the Bible talks about hope … when we talk about hope in Jesus, it is not the same way the world talks about the word …. often we think about hope …. like cross your fingers —- oh I sure hope this happens …. I sure hope Mom makes Pizza for supper … I love it so much No … lets hear how the Bible talks about our hope: “This certain hope of being saved is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls, connecting us with God himself behind the sacred curtains of heaven” (Hebrews 6:19) You see that … how the Bible talks about hope … it talks about it like a big heavy anchor …. I remember years ago I was up north in Canada fishing with my nephew Joey … and someone said … hey Joe … put the anchor down we are going to fish right here … and so Joe threw the anchor down … and there the anchor goes …. but do you know what he forgot to tie it on the side of the boat … My friends … don’t forget to tie the anchor down … don’t forget to trust in Jesus … everyday —— trust in Jesus Jesus is a sure thing … he is a steadfast anchor …. everyday remind yourself of the gospel … it is the most important thing in the world … because it connects you to the most important thing in the world and that is God. Everyday … remind yourself that there is nothing you can do to earn God’s love …. that God loves you just the way you are …. In fact the Bible says in Ephesians 1, that God loves you so much … that even before you were born God loved you …. way before you were ever born God knew you …. in your mothers womb … he formed you …. and way before you were ever born he thought of you and he thought of the cross at the same time … when Jesus went to the cross he was thinking of you. That’s how much God loves you … God loves you so much that he sent his only son so that we who believe in him could be adopted into the family of God … and become part of God’s big special family Listen to this —- romans 8 adoption: “For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children[g] of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.” For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory.” So you see that …. the gospel is the greatest treasure in all the world, not only because it brings us to God forever … we get eternal life with God … we get eternal life … but we get it with God … God really is the gift … sin separates us from God … but Jesus dying on the cross - the gospel …. makes it so there is no more separation …. the gospel brings us to God. But the gospel is not only the greatest treasure in the world because it gives us eternal life with God … but also because it shows us how much God loves us … you see that … Jesus and his gospel show us how much God loves us … Yes … the Bible is the greatest treasure in the world … the gospel is the greatest in the world … seeing and hearing and understanding these things is the greatest treasure in the world … but all of these things also show us …. that to God — we are the greatest treasure in the world … the greatest treasure in the world to God is his son Jesus …. And God sacrificed his son so he could get you …. now if that doesn’t tell you how much God loves you … nothing will. To God you are a very special treasure … each and everyone of you are ….. I want you all to remember that as you leave here this week and as we finish here this day … you are not only very special to each and everyone of us here at Osseo Community Church … but you are super special to God …. he loves you so much … I want you to remember that everyday. Everyday I want you to remember what Jesus did on the cross so that he could be with you. Everyday I want you to think of God’s love for you. Would you all do me a favor and do that? Let’s pray.
